Rebuilding Family Ties in fostercare.
Course Objective
This program provides clinicians with the opportunity to learn about:

• Tools that practitioners can use to help parents and children rebuild fragile or disrupted attachments
• Change patterns of destructive behavior and implement safety plans to prevent further neglect, abuse and trauma
• Goal of attachment interventions is to provide a coordinated effort to rebuild family ties and change cycles of crisis
• Problems in reuniting children in foster care with their biological families  

Intended Audience
Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Addiction Therapists 
Author Bio
RICHARD KAGAN, Ph.D. - Dr. Richard Kagan is Director of Psychological Services at the Parsons Child and Family Center in Albany, New York and served as Clinical Director/Principal Investigator for the Parsons Trauma Center, a community services site for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network.  He is the author and co-author of six books about child and family services, with the books most relevant to this module being Rebuilding Attachments with Traumatized Children; Healing from Losses, Violence, Abuse, and Neglect, and Real Life Heroes; a Life Storybook for Children plus its accompanying manual, The Real Life Heroes Practitioner’s Manual.
