Author Bio
CAROL GARRETT, Ph.D. and MICHELE GREENE WEISMAN, Ph.D. Carol Garrett, Ph.D. is the Coordinator of the Advanced Standing Program at the New York University Ehrenkranz School of Social Work, as well as a faculty advisor and a lecturer on the subjects of Trauma and Clinical Practice. Prior to that she was the Coordinator of Mental Health Services at the Center for AIDS Research and Treatment at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY and she also specialized in outpatient therapy with patients having AIDS and other chronic illnesses.  The publication on which this module is based, “A Self-Psychological Perspective on Chronic Illness,” co-authored with Michele Greene Weisman, PhD, appeared in the Clinical Social Work Journal, (Volume 29:2).  Dr. Garrett is in private practice in Melville, NY.

Michele Greene Weisman, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the New York University Ehrenkranz School of Social Work, where she instructs graduate level courses in the practice curriculum of clinical social work. In addition she serves as a member of the Special Classification Review Board at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel, NJ, where she conducts in-person interviews with inmates to determine if inmates shall be recommended for parole.  “A Self-Psychological Perspective on Chronic Illness,” is co-authored with Carol Garrett, PhD, which appeared in the Clinical Social Work Journal, (Volume 29:2).
