Mandated Reporting of Abuse and Neglect
Course Objective
This program provides clinicians with the opportunity to learn about:
A discussion mandated reporting, record keeping, and why we must report.
Conflict with mandated reporting and confidentiality
An explanation what the law, what the statutes generally have to say about what we have to do if we understand that there is abuse going on, wherever it is that the child is living.

Author Bio
Helene M. Snyder, J.D.  is an attorney with a background in both private practice and public interest law, including two years as a Guardian ad Litem representing children in abuse and neglect proceedings in the Juvenile Court of Cook County, Illinois.  Her area of practice includes the representation of children and parents in abuse and neglect, custody and visitation cases.  Since 1992, Ms. Snyder has taught courses on law and social work both at the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration and in the Graduate School of Social Work at Loyola University Chicago, where she is an adjunct professor.  Ms. Snyder has published articles on effective legal representation of children in custody and visitation proceedings for the Chicago Bar Association and American Bar Association.
