The purpose of this module is to present the loss of a parent and its devastating effect on an adolescent, whether this loss occurs in earlier childhood or in adolescence.
Course Objective
This program provides clinicians with the opportunity to learn about:

Early intervention is very important in treating adolescent behavior challenges.
Risk of relapse is high later in life following a depressive episode.
What happens when the parent loss occurs in childhood and adolescent development

Author Bio
COLIN PEREIRA-WEBBER, M.A. Colin Pereira-Webber is an advanced candidate in adult and child psychoanalysis at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. He received his certification in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Institute as well. Since 1996, he has been the associate director of the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy program and for many years was a therapist at the Barr-Harris Center for the Study of Separation and Loss in Childhood at the Institute. He has presented many seminars and workshops on the subject of death and parent loss in childhood. He has published on the topic of childhood bereavement in a number of books and journals and has presented at clinical conferences nationally and internationally.
