This module includes research and clinical work on the psychosocial reintegration of combat veterans, soldiers are not “the other.”
Course Objective
This program provides clinicians with the opportunity to learn about:
How not to trivialize the experience
How to acknowledge veteran’s anger
Helping to connect and reintegrate
How to acknowledge trauma

Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Addiction Therapists

Tousha West, LCSW  is the Suicide Prevention Coordinator for the Atlanta VA Medical Center.  

Tousha West has been instrumental in reaching out to veterans, counselors, social workers and organizations in order to share information about all the services the VA has to offer. 

Ms. West has made it her mission to let all veterans know of the help awaiting them at the 
VA.  Some of the services are:
National Suicide Hotline and the National Homeless Veteran Hotline 1-800-273-8255(TALK).

My Healthy Vet: http://www.myhealth.va.gov/ is an award health website which offers Veterans, active duty service members, their dependents and caregivers anywhere, anytime Internet access to VA health care information and services. My Health Vet is a free, online Personal Health Record that empowers Veterans to become informed partners in their health care.

VA's OEF/OIF Transitional Teams.  The VA has launched OEF/OIF Teams. Their sole priority is to serve OEF/OIF vets. Their goal is to treat veterans immediately without having them wait.  They specialize in PTSD, suicide and other post combat deployment issues. In addition,  the VA Suicide Prevention coordinator falls under this special team.
