This program takes a look at the relationship the Therapists and clients share.  It is paid and emotionally intimate but the intimacy is pretty one-sided.  When the therapist chooses to reveal personal information to the client, it could help the client’s therapeutic goals, or it could backfire.  Technology verses self-disclosure open up new possible boundary violations. 
Course Objective
At the completion of this program, participants should be able to: 
  • List four different types of self-disclosure and the   appropriate use of each.
  • Review how self-disclosure can reduce the power difference between therapist and client. 
  • Determine when not to respond to the “Yelp” and other reviews online. 
  • Be able to discuss the differences in self-disclosure in various types of therapeutic orientations.  
  • Explain the term “self-disclosure as a means of modeling.”

Author Bio
