BFT05 Brief Treatment - Brief Dynamic Psychotherapy (inactive)
Brief Treatment: A framework developed for brief therapy effective and lasting psychotherapeutic results achieved focused on present and past patient strengths.
Course Objective
This program provides clinicians with the opportunity to learn about:
The emergence of a developmental model based on the study of normal infants and children
The patient‘s assets and the striving for confidence and self-worth are seen as the building blocks for change in brief treatment
A framework for brief therapy in which effective and lasting psychotherapeutic results can be achieved in a relatively brief period by focusing on the present and the patient‘s strengths
Regression is avoided by beginning with the assumption that the patient, until proven otherwise, possesses the resources to accomplish his or her goal

Author Bio
MICHAEL BASCH, MD Dr. Michael Basch was professor of psychiatry, Rush Medical College, Chicago, Illinois and was a training and supervising analyst for the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. An associate of the late Heinz Kohut, he lectured and wrote regarding the significance of self-psychology for both psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. He published over fifty articles dealing with psychoanalytic issues and is the author of four books: Doing Brief Psychotherapy; Doing Psychotherapy, a widely used text book for psychotherapists; Understanding Psychotherapy; and Practicing Psychotherapy: A Guide for the Advanced Psychotherapist and Supervisor.
