The purpose of this module is to present treatment of substance abusers, focusing on the use of the chemical by the abuser as a replacement for the lost early nurturing relationship.

Author Bio
JEFFREY SEINFELD, Ph.D. Dr. Jeff Seinfeld received his MSW from Hunter College and his Ph.D. from New York University where he is now professor and full-time faculty member of the Silver School for Social Work.  In addition to his private practice in New York City, he serves as a private consultant to the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services. 
His books, The Empty Core and The Bad Object, Interpreting and Holding, and Containing Rage, Terror, and Despair have been widely received as humane and very helpful in understanding people with severe personality disorders.
